We looked at various quantities being compared in terms of a ration. We learnt how to divide a quantity in a given ratio and understood the concept of proportions. We are now investigating direct proportions.
In the last two weeks, we have learnt how to use the lasso tool, merge two or more pictures and add layers. We have been ideating on amazing projects. We have submitted the presentation based on criterion A for assessment and have started criterion B which is about planning and executing our poster designs. We are expecting criterion B to be soon over so that everybody can enjoy making their designs on Photoshop.
Physical and Health education
We continued with our unit in Cricket. We identified the different ways a batsman can get out in cricket match. In the past two weeks, we still continued on our topic of Festivals. We learned the way the people in France celebrate them and how it differs in other countries. For example, in France, the festival of Poisson d’ Avril which is April Fool Day, the people celebrate it by sticking paper fishes on other people’s back as a prank but in other countries like India, we verbally fool other people or we play pranks on them. We even learned the reason behind the festival being celebrated. We played a quiz to enhance our vocabulary and revised all our past work.

Phase 1and Phase 2
Under our unit, ‘Festivals and Traditions’, we discussed the importance and relevance of festivals in present day.
We answered unit-based questions in writing and wrote articles on the extent to which a festival should be celebrated – in moderation or with grandeur. In our current unit we utilized our time in doing a group task, in which we chose a festival from- Eid, Diwali, Holi, Christmas. We wrote a short description on this and presented it in the class. We also wrote a short story on a given topic to learn about the forms of [kaal, ling, vachan]. We also had Samvaad lekhan and dialog writing practice in class. We took a formative assessment on criteria C and D.
We revised the vocabulary on the festivals, La Navidad, La Tomatina and El Año Nuevo. took our formative assessments on criteria A, C and D and got the detailed feedback from the teacher. We are preparing for our summative assessment.
Individual and Societies
We were introduced to our next topic – Ecosystem. We formed groups and each group was given an Ecosystem to research. Each group collaborated to research on flora, fauna, climate and human impact on each ecosystem. We formulated different questions for Kahoot quiz. After ma’am reviewed our questions, we started making our final Kahoot quizzes. It was truly a fun experience for all of us.

Language and Literature
In the past few classes, we read several sample diary entries and decoded and analysed the language used. Then, we wrote two diary entries on the given topics by assuming different roles. We also had a session on how we should express our tone through choice of words after which we analyzed the mood it created. We took feedback on this task and have now maintained a journal on how this character would feel as the days progress. We also revised the concept of STEAL and internal monologue.

In the past couple of weeks, we completed a formative assessment on simple machines. The formative assessment involved research on an assigned simple machine in groups and presenting our findings. Post the completion of the formative, Ms. Priscilla talked about the various simple machines herself. We also played the Hot seat activity, wherein a simple machine was secretly chosen by a group and had to be guessed by a person from another group in under six questions! We enjoyed playing that activity. In the last class. We created various compound machines using Mechanix, which was really fun.

In these past few classes, we have learnt about properties of ionic compounds like, NaCl, MgO etc with scientific reason for their formation. To summarize ionic bonding, we all made mind maps in our notebook to collate everything we learnt about.
We started learning another type of bonding, covalent bonding. We discussed and diagrammatically represented the three types of bonds, single, double, and triple bonds. We challenged ourselves by drawing diagrams for compounds like water, carbon dioxide, ammonia and methane.

We are following a flipped classroom approach for the ongoing formative assessment in music. For this assessment, we were required to pick an African instrument and conduct research on its origin, purpose, appearance, sound, etc. Then, we were asked to present our research findings in the class and resolve any queries that our peers had. To test if they understood the findings, we also had to ask them any three questions based on the information shared in the presentation. We are able to enhance our research and presentation skills and stimulate transfer of knowledge through this assessment.
In the unit Creative Perspective Drawing, we experimented with one point perspective and two points perspective drawing. Based on our learning, we are applying three points perspectives in 3D architecture modelling. Using newspapers, cardboard etc we are creating different historical architecture. We are now in the process of installing all the art works on one platform.
